TEHRAN - The historical Raoufi House in Qazvin has reopened as a creative house dedicated to handicrafts, aiming to promote local craftsmanship, help create jobs, and attract tourists.

In a ceremony held on Saturday, a local official in charge of handicrafts announced the opening of the center, which coincided with the celebration of World Handicrafts Day and was attended online by the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts.

The Raoufi House was restored and equipped by a private investor, Alireza Khazaeli said.

“This project has generated employment for more than ten people,” he continued. “And is focused on providing education, production, commerce, and fostering innovative ideas in the field of handicrafts.”

Khazaeli also brought to light that the center features live workshops in various crafts, including pottery and ceramics, marquetry, traditional jewelry making, traditional design, embroidery, and mosaic painting.

He winded up by mentioning the presence of a permanent shop within the center, which sells the crafts made by artisans.
